Weight Loss Scams Revealed

Wouldnt it be nice to lose weight quickly, with minimal effort or fuss? Of cause you would! I for one would love to just sit back do nothing and the weight will just fall off.

Whether its a low carb, low GI diet, A choice of diet pills or natural weight loss pills, diet shakes, or exercise equipment, weve all seen the fantastic claims people including celebrities make about losing tons of weight AND how they can show you how to do the same thing.

I can tell you right now that 99% of these people are total frauds. You may have even fallen prey to one of these scam artists, selling you their latest weight loss program. Me too!

In the past Ive brought so many of these programs that I cant even recall how many. I dont know why, but I tend to find the good in people, and I was sold by these marketing schemes time and time again, even after being scammed by another. Finally, after so many disappointments, I got FED UP. I decided to get to the bottom of this fascination we have with weight Loss Programs and find out if there really were any LEGITIMATE programs for weight Loss.

Legitimate as in not only dealing with LOSING weight but also what caused the weight Gain in the first place.

The American Heart Association has several tips to that helps guide you to identify a Fad Diet or Program if it is recommended.

Magic or miracle foods that burn fat. foods dont burn fat they create fat when we eat more than we need.

Bizarre quantities of only one food or type of food such as eating only cabbage or tomatoes. These foods are fine as part of an overall healthy diet, but eating large quantities of them could lead to unpleasant side effects.

Rigid menus. Many diets set out a very limited selection of foods to be eaten at a specific time and day, exactly as written. Often these limited diets dont address the widely varied taste preferences of our diverse population.

Specific food combinations. Some foods taste good together, like the classic soup and sandwich, but theres no scientific evidence that eating foods in certain sequences or combinations has any medical benefit.

Rapid weight loss of more than two pounds a week.

No warning given to people with diabetes or high blood pressure to seek advice from the physician or healthcare provider. Some fad diets could raise blood pressure or blood glucose even if you loss weight.

No increase physical activity. Simple physical activities, like walking or riding a bike, are one of the most important ways to lose weight and maintain weight loss. Yet many fad diets dont emphasis these easy changes.

Now dont be discouraged, which weight loss program is the right one for you, which one isnt just a fad diet. In my research I have found a few programs that not only deal with losing weight but also the cause of why you got fat in the first place (which by the way, is ultimately the main reason why we end up putting the weight back on) and also adding in successful, simple strategies to increase exercising.

Whatever you do, I wish you a healthy year for you and yours

A Golf Round at a Tournament

If you are a beginning golfer and want to someday compete in golf tournaments, practicing everyday will help you realize this dream. Even though it is very easy to sign-up to play in tournaments, once you arrive, you will see who your competition is and just how tough it is to stay in the game until the end. By having limited experience in playing golf, you may be eliminated quickly.

There are a few ways to prepare for a golf tournament. The first is to go to a few tournaments to get an idea of what they are like, the types of golfers they attract, and the course you will be playing on. If you have a few months to a year to prepare, play the course a few times to get used to it. Even though the course is always changing due to weather and degree of wetness on the ground, you can still get a good idea of what it will be like during the tournament. If possible, find out who you will be competing against so you can learn more about their style. this will help relieve some of the stress of playing against others who may have been playing longer than you.

Another way to prepare for a golf tournament is to find out your strengths and weaknesses so you can make adjustments before the golf competition. You can do this by playing with others and asking for their opinions, hiring a coach, using golf analysis software, or reading golf magazines, watching DVDs, or reading books by professional golfers. The more prepared you are, the better you will perform during the tournament.

After a few months of practice, you should be ready to play in the tournament. Once you arrive, you will need to register in order to let those organizing it that you are present. After everyone signs in, a schedule will be created. Each time you win a match, you will be going up against another player. Usually players become better the higher you climb.

Even if you dont win at the tournament, you will walk away with valuable experience that will last a lifetime. You can enter other tournaments or you can stick to perfecting your game by playing on various courses. Since there are many levels in golf, you should choose a level you are comfortable with in order to become the best golfer you can. Moreover, even if you don't win you can certainly use a street map of Alicante to wander around the area and enjoy your vacation!

Help! My Child's Just Been Diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes!

Hi, my names Jen and just a few years ago we had the worrying and rather scary experience of having my daughter, Alissa, diagnosed with juvenile (or type 1) diabetes.

Im proud to say that she is currently at university and living a normal life, she even writes her own diabetes blog.

So how did we survive the trauma of diagnosis, learning to give insulin injections and learning all about diabetes?

Alissa was first diagnosed having been losing weight for some time although we barely noticed as it was a wonderfully hot summer and wed been enjoying time in the sun!

She spent a couple of days in hospital being treated and then came home. I think we were on information overload theres SO much to take in that its hard to know where to start.

The first time I gave Alissa her insulin injection I made a real hash of it and she ended up with a massive bruise but I was keen to at least have a go rather than her take the worry of it.

Looking back on that time we had good support from the diabetic nurse but theres a few things which I wish someone could have told me:-

  • Dont feel guilty - its easy to miss the signs of diabetes when youre with your child all day. The most important thing is to get to grips with their treatment regime, insulin injections and regular blood glucose testing.

  • take it one day at a time - dont start to worry about the future. Whats most important is to help your child through this traumatic time, get them settled back into school or college and try to live as normally as possible.

  • Read as much information as you can youll soon know more than the average nurse or doctor. Sign up for newsletters and join the national support organisations. I highly recommend the Juvenile diabetes foundation for help and information, especially about the latest research and developments into the disease.

  • Make diet a whole family issue - we chose to change everyones diet as a family, this meant that Alissa didnt feel singled out as odd or different. If Alissa couldnt eat treacle pudding, nobody was going to! Reading cookbooks from the library and recipes from magazines helped me to re-learn our diet without it becoming boring or dull!

My good friend Sally always reminds me that we must be kind to ourselves. Learning that your child has diabetes isnt easy, can take time to adjust to and can be emotionally draining.

Try not to push yourself too hard, take each day as it comes, enjoy your times together as a family and just keep loving your child the same as ever!
